Greetings!

GABA is a neurotransmitter that is intended to block certain impulses, and nerve cells in the brain. There is a certain amount of GABA needed in the brain to contain stability. However, GABA is used in ways, because it can help to be relaxing, like stress relief, or something that can take your anxieties away. This is how it relates to alcohol. It can help to take away stress to a certain degree.

Alcohol has a similar affect on the brain because it binds to GABA receptors. Does it increase your GABA? No. But by using those GABA receptors it does, indeed, replicate the GABA's job.

Hope this helps. :)
