Colonies are white or blue depending on their possibility to metabolize X-gal product (the blue colonies can metabolize X-gal product, and they encode for lacZgene). Whether it encodes or lacks the lacZ gene, it can still uptake the antithrombin gene and grow on the medium through electroporation.
