Mean- Average of numbers
17 + 20 + 14 + 5 + 30 + 13 + 6 + 15 = 120
There are 8 numbers in the data set so 120/8 = 15
So the mean is 15.
Median- The middle number
To find the median you have to place all the numbers in order from least to greatest.
5, 6, 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 30
The 2 middle numbers are 14 and 15.
Since there are 2 middle numbers you have to add them and then divide them by 2.
14 + 15 = 29/2 = 14.5
So the median is 14.5.
Mode- The number that occurs most often
5, 17 , 4, 12, 8, 4, 6
The number that occurs the most is 4.
So the mode is 4.
