A building company used 24 workers to prepare a building site. The site measured 30 acres and the work was completed in 10 days.
a) The company is asked to prepare another site measuring 45 acres. The company must complete the work on the new site in 12 days. How many extra workers must they use if they are to meet the deadline?

If there is 30 acres and it was completed in 10 days they completed 3 acres per day. meaning each worker completed 3/24 or 1/8 acres per day. therefore if they have 45 acres and 12 days they need to complete 3.75 acres per day. if each worker completes 1/8 per day then it will take 30 workers to complete the whole site. as it asks for how many extra workers the answer would be 6.
