*Sorry I messed up my math please read the new answer.
Use distrubitive property to get rid of parentheses. Multiply -3 by 4r and -8 to get -12r+24=36. Then zero out 24 by subtarcting 24 from both sides. You. should then have -12r=12. Divide by -12 on both sides to get r by itself. Your answer should be r=1*. Hope this helps :)

Hey there!

Firstly, we  have to [tex]distribute[/tex]

[tex]-3(4r)[/tex] [tex]+(-3)[/tex] [tex](-8)[/tex] [tex]= -36[/tex]

[tex]-3(4r)[/tex] [tex]= -12r[/tex]

[tex](-3)(-8)[/tex] [tex]= 24[/tex]

[tex]-12r[/tex] [tex]+ 24[/tex] [tex]= -36[/tex]

Secondly, we have to [tex]subtract[/tex] by  [tex]24[/tex] on each of your sides

[tex]-12r[/tex] [tex]+24[/tex][tex]-24[/tex] [tex]= -36[/tex] [tex]-24[/tex]

Cancel :[tex]24 - 24[/tex] because it'll give you the result of [tex]0[/tex]

Keep: [tex]-36[/tex] [tex]- 24[/tex] because it will help us solve for the value of [tex]r[/tex]

[tex]-36[/tex] [tex]- 24[/tex] [tex]= -60[/tex]

[tex]-12r[/tex] [tex]=[/tex] [tex]-60[/tex]

Thirdly we have to [tex]divide[/tex] by [tex]-12[/tex] on each of your sides

[tex]\frac{-12r}{12}[/tex] [tex]=[/tex] [tex]\frac{-60}{-12}[/tex]

Cancel: [tex]\frac{-12r}{-12}[/tex] because it gives you the answer of [tex]1[/tex]

Keep: [tex]\frac{-60}{-12}[/tex] because it gives you the answer of [tex]r[/tex]  which is [tex]5[/tex]

So, therefore the answer of  this question [tex]r = 5[/tex]

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day!
