Mrs. Conners comes into Dr. Tyler’s office to be examined for a sore throat and fever. The examination reveals that Mrs. Conners has tonsillitis. Dr. Tyler writes an order in the patient’s chart for an injection of antibiotic to be administered today. The patient is also given a prescription for an oral antibiotic to be taken for the next ten days. Joe, the medical assistant, while administering the injection to Mrs. Conners, accidentally punctures his finger with the dirty needle.
