Respuesta :

19 = 5x - 1

Solve for x.

Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other. Isolate the x. Do the opposite of PEMDAS.

=> Addition Property of Equality.

Add 1 to both sides

19 = 5x - 1

19 (+1) = 5x - 1 (+1)

=> Combine like terms

Add 19 and 1

19 + 1 = 5x

20 = 5x

=> Division property of equality

Divide 5 from both sides

(20)/5 = (5x)/5

x = 20/5

x = 4
