FIND THE SLOPE OF THE LINE WITH THE FOLLOWING POINTS

(3, 6) AND (0, 4)

WRITE AN EQUATION USING POINT SLOPE FORM WITH A SLOPE OF 2.6 AND CROSSES THE POINT (-5.1, 3.8)

The formula of a slope:

[tex]m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

We have (3, 6) and (0, 4)

Substitute:

[tex]m=\dfrac{4-6}{0-3}=\dfrac{-2}{-3}=\dfrac{2}{3}[/tex]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The slope-point formula:

[tex]y-y_1=m(x-x_1)[/tex]

We have:

m = 2.6 and (-5.1, 3.8)

Substitute:

[tex]y-3.8=2.6(x-(-5.1))\\\\y-3.8=2.6(x+5.1)[/tex]
