The truth is important because if we do not tell it, our lies will spiral out of control. The truth hurts but sometimes it is better to be brutally honest them lie. For example, if you were at your friend's wedding. Would you rather tell her that her dress is stained and cause her stress, but let her fix it. Or would you rather let her walk around like that and embarrass herself and let all of her pictures come out bad. I do not think that we should lie to spare others pain. Pain only lasts for so long, but once you lie to someone their trust for you is lost and it takes decades to regain that. Both of these questions are opinions so you might disagree, but this is my take on them.
