(x - 3)² - 2 = 0

2/ solve the quadratic equation, x2-6x+7=0

(x - 3)² - 2 = 0

(x - 3)² = 2

x - 3 = √2   or  x - 3 =   - √2

x = 3 + √2   or  x =  3   - √2
