The Philippine Sea plate is tectonically unique where most of the boundaries are convergent. The Pacific plate is subducting underneath the Philippine Sea plate to the east while the northwestern section of the Philippine Sea plate is subducting underneath the Eurasian plate.
Philippine Plate is a tectonic plate containing marine lithosphere that stretches beneath the Philippine Sea, to the eastward of the Philippines. Most parts of the Philippines, covering northern Luzon, are the division of the Philippine Mobile Belt, which is tectonically separated from the Philippine Sea Plate.
