Inherent/expressed powers are powers that are exercised only by a sovereign state.
- The national government conducts foreign policy.
- Conducts foreign relations.
- Only the federal government can coin money.
Reserved powers are the powers that are neither approved nor denied by the federal government, but each individual state has the freedom to decide on those.
- State governments have the power to pass marriage laws within their states.
