The correct answer is A. Ancient Greece was comprised of  independent town small city-states, but this wasn't due to the works of one all-powerful king, the key geographic feature which allowed this was its mountains. The mountains allows its mountainous terrain, isolated valleys, and many offshore islands allowed for the formation of several local centers of power instead of simply one all-powerful capital.
