The Office of War Information (OWI) was established on June 13, 1942. The purpose was to centralize many government information services to create a propaganda machine that controls information related to war, served to the public. Through radio shows, newspapers, posters, photographs, films, even through advertising on matches, there was a connection between warfare and civilian communities. Also, a number of overseas affiliates were established, which spread propaganda abroad. The entire propaganda is designed to improve morale and encourage patriotism, to encourage people to participate in war efforts, and, most importantly, to control the information that the Americans received about the war.
