Texas does the Alamo to win independence from Mexico. The Alamo is an 18th-century Franciscan mission in San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio has become an important battleground for Texans who are fighting for independence from Mexico.

EXPLANATION

Texas is part of Mexico. At that time in Texas were often occurred tensions and violence between the Mexican government and the settlers. They voiced to become a separate state from Mexico. Then among the settlers came a leader named Sam Houston. In 1835 he was elected as a commander of the Texas army.

When Houston heard that they were losing at the Alamo, he decided to start a month-long retreat to consolidate his troops, replenishing the spirit of Texas forces. Considering how bad the condition of the Texas troops after being defeated at the Alamo.

On April 21, 1836, the Houston army won a flash battle against the Mexican forces at San Jacinto. Thanks to this victory, they gained independence. Soon after, Houston was elected as president of the Republic of Texas. Until 1845 after Texas became part of the United States, Houston continued to serve the people of Texas as senators and governors.

In 1863 Sam Houston died in Huntsville, Texas. After a lifetime spent serving Texas and the most heroic events in freeing Texas from Mexico. So, to commemorate his merit, a 67-foot memorial statue was built.
