Hills may be formed by a buildup of rock debris or sand deposited by glaciers and wind. Hills may be created by faults. Faults are a slight crack in the earth which can cause earthquakes.

Slopes (or hills) are also formed by deep disintegration of zones that were raised by unsettling influences within the earth's crust. Some hills can be formed by erosion. Hills may be made by faults. Faults are a slight crack within the soil which can cause seismic tremors (or earthquakes). Volcanoes are also another way that slopes are formed. Volcanoes form slopes when they erupt.
