Note that the two fractions have common denominators. Because they have common denominators, you can just combine the terms:
4/8 + 3/8 = (4 + 3)/8 = 7/8
7/8 is your answer
~
4/8 + 3/8 = [tex]\frac{7}{8}[/tex] = 0.875
Add: [tex]\frac{4}{8}[/tex] + [tex]\frac{3}{8}[/tex]
= [tex]\frac{4+3}{8}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{7}{8}[/tex]
The common denominator you can calculate as the least common multiple of the both denominators - LCM(8, 8) = 8
