The process of DNA replication occurs just before mitosis. Mitosis is a type
of cell division which lower organisms practices during reproduction.
Mitosis gives rise to two identical daughter cells which are very similar. The
traits in the parent cells are transferred to the offspring.
The need for the passing of these traits is what leads to the replication of
DNA which houses the genetic composition of organisms.
