Assess the validity of jefferson's claim that the election of 1800 "was a revolution comparable to that of 1776." do you consider that revolution to be a real revolution or a more moderate evolution in american political history? support your answer.

Respuesta :

Jefferson did not mean that the election of 1800 was a revolution in a traditional sense, as it did not really represent a large change of the political paradigm or popular perceptions. In fact, his victory was ensured very closely above his competitors.

To him, predecessors like Adams and Hamilton had gone against the spirit of 76's and 87's revolution, and his intervention would represent a peaceful change of power that restored the virtues of republican development.

This is what Jefferson really meant by tying his election to the 76 revolution.

Hope this helps!
