U.S. Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen , and Abandoned Lands was established by Congress to provide practical aid to 4,000,000 newly freed Black Americans in their transition from slavery to freedom.
Founded by Abraham Lincoln.

Helped the African Americans such as:

1) giving them educations by the people in the north volunteering to help the African-Americans in the south.

2) Helped the former slaves to reunite with their family.

3) Gave them jobs.

Lastly, and in overall the Freedman Burea spent about/more than 5 million dollars.
