Because it took them a couple months to make a book, normally.
When the printing press was made, it took about two weeks to make a book.
The people in power had controll over what was in the books and what was taught. But when the printing press was made, they didn't have controll like they wanted (also, books where made at a faster pace) so the high up ( the people in power) wanted to get rid of the printing press.
