Consider the free-body diagram. Based on the net forces illustrated here, what can you say about the acceleration of the object?

A. The object is moving at a constant speed.

B. The object is accelerating in an upward direction.

C. The object is accelerating down.

D. The acceleration equals 0.

Respuesta :

C. The object is accelerating down.

This is because the vectors on the left and right of the box cancel out since 100N - 100N = 0N.  Now we just have the up and down vector forces.  Since 720 N is greater than 600 N, it follows that 720N - 600N = 120N down.

I can say anything I want, but Choice-C is the only correct statement on this list.

By the way . . . There is only one "net force" acting on the object in this picture.  It's a force of 120N pointing down.  That's why the object is accelerating down.
