In his study titled "Cultural Influences on Attraction", Paul W. Eastwick identifies major topics of central attention in the process of attraction between 2 individuals of a different culture.
- Love and Choice: If showing a couple is arranged or decision was driven.
- The system of Marriage: If culture supports monogamy or Polygamy.
- Appropriate Sexual Behaviour: What is seen as tolerable or not.
- Mate Preferences: For example, physical attractiveness or age.
- A standard of Attractiveness: For example, weight or focus for a part of a body.
- Adult Attachment Styles: If the person has an "anxious" (tends to look for a partner) or "avoidant" (avoids activities related to finding a partner).
Each of the 2 individuals has a mix of the preferences of for each topic. If they the 2 "blends" of preferences have a high-level compatibility, then the individuals will probably result highly attracted to each other.
