The most important thing that my english teacher ever did for me was to allow me to make mistakes. She had this philosophy that making mistakes teaches you more than getting a perfect 100 therefore every time me or any of my classmates would make a mistake she would kindly show us why it was wrong and taught us how to learn from our mistakes, which also helped us a lot during tests since we were not traumatized from scoldings.
She also used a LOT of different resources, such as movies, songs, books, social media, etc She encouraged us to open up a tumblr blog and only befriend/follow english speaking people in order to familiarize ourselves with the language and the slang people our age use. Instead of homework she requested us to start bloging about stuff we were passionate about and talk about it to the class which helped a LOT with our anxiety.
One of my most vivid memories is that she also recommended books to each one of us based on some personality test we did in class therefore almost every single one of us was actually interested in what we were reading.
