Peer pressure is when other people (your peers) persuade you to act in a particular way. Peer pressure can occur when you are with people who are engaging in behavior that you normally avoid and they persuade you to fall in line.
How peer pressure can negatively affect you?
- Teenagers who experience negative peer pressure may engage in harmful habits and activities like avoiding a lesson, stealing, cheating, bullying, and using alcohol or drugs.
- Negative peer pressure is harmful to mental health.
- Poor academic performance, distancing from family and friends, a rise in depression and anxiety, and a decline in self-confidence can all result from it.
- Teens might eventually start self-harming if this is not addressed.
