in the equation 2K+ 2H2O ---> 2KOH +H2

How much hydrogen is produced of only .04 mol of potassium is used?

A. .01 mol of H2
B. .02 mol of H2
C. .03 mol H2
D. .04 mol of H2

please help and explain the answer

Respuesta :

 The much hydrogen that is  produced   is 0.02 mol  of H₂ (answer  B)

 Explanation

2K +2H₂O→ 2 KOH + H₂

 Use the mole ratio to determine the moles of H₂

 From equation above the  K :H₂  is  2:1

Therefore the moles of H₂ = 0.04 x 1/2 = 0.02  mol  of H₂
