1. The enlistment of black soldiers during the Civil War was important since it gave the black people the opportunity to be seen as equals at the same time it gave them the chance to fight for the Union cause.
2. When the U.S decided to give African-Americans the chance to join the military, the South flipped and promised to execute and enslave black soldiers who were captured. The reason why the use of black soldiers by the Union stirred such fury in the South was that it outnumbered the Confederate troops and also because Southern slaves took advantage of the war to escape and join the Union force for a better life.
