-What happened to Russia as a result of WWI? How did WWI cause a change in Russia's government?

Respuesta :

Russia entered WW1 to defend Serbia to which it had deep cultural ties. Its first enemy was the Austro-Hungarian Empire and its desire to control the Balkans. WW1 became a monster that no government could control that endlessly devoured men and resources.

In 1917 the Russian Government in the form of the Tsar had a crisis of confidence on a train to St. Petersberg. He abdicated, no one of the ruling class would replace him. Chaos ensued as new governments tried to establish a new order. Civil War followed as the final experimental government fought to established itself. Russia made peace and exited WW1.

After WW1 the communists secured their control of the government. They also attempted to regain authority over territories that were lost to the central powers. Russia was unable to prevent the independence of some of it's previous dependent states. These include Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland. They did mange to regain power over Belarus and Ukraine which had been taken over by Germany. The country also suffered great inflation after the war causing food to be almost worthless.

Political changes: Russia went from being an autocracy run by Tsar Nicholas 2 to a communist government led by Lenin.
