Britain was an island nation dependent on shipping for the supplies it needed.

Authority of the Atlantic Ocean was imperative to Great Britain’s victory in World War II because Britain was an isle country subordinate on transportation for the supplies it demanded.  Without admittance to Atlantic freight passages, Britain would have perished and been externally out of war supplies from the Westerners.
