Yes, point one is the fact that if they have see the crime they have evidence. (in their brain)
it would support wether the person is guilty/not guilty. It would help so many cases for an Eye witness, to say what happend exactly.
point two, yes I am aware they could lie to protect who ever from punishment but if they are lying, they to would be punished for lying so if they were said to be an eyewitness why would they not deny it?
point three, It makes the details and decisions much more easy, instead of going in the wrong direction they might tell /whoever\ what happend or what they might've seen or witnessed.
