To find the equation of a slope, you use the following equation:

[tex]y_{1}[/tex] - y = m([tex]x_{1}[/tex] - x)

All you do now is substitute in the value for the gradient, y and x, like so:

Note: gradient = [tex]\frac{9}{4}[/tex], y = -4, x = 3

[tex]y_{1}[/tex] - y = m([tex]x_{1}[/tex] - x)

y - - 4 = [tex]\frac{9}{4}[/tex] ( x - 3)       ( note, 2 negatives make a positive)

y + 4 =  [tex]\frac{9}{4}[/tex] ( x - 3)

Answer

C ) y + 4 =  [tex]\frac{9}{4}[/tex] ( x - 3)
