you are paid, $11.75/hr and you work 40 hr/wk. assuming you are able to work 20 hours of overtime and are paid 1.5 times your regular rate, how much is it?
can someone please explain how to add the overtime and the rate please & thank you.
First you find how much you get in one week with $11.75/hr and 40 hr/wk: [tex]11.75 \times 40 = 470[/tex] You earn $470 a week without the overtime
Step 2: Since you are being paid 1.5 times your regular rate, you multiply your regular rate by 1.5. Regular rate was given to us as $11.75. [tex]11.75 \times 1.5 = 17.625[/tex] Then you round up the the nearest cent and get $17.63/hr for 20 hours. Next you find the total amount you get for 20 hours: [tex]17.63 \times 20 = 352.60[/tex] You earn $352.60 for the 20 hours of overtime
Step 3:
Add the two values together [tex]470.00 + 352.60 = 822.60[/tex] All together you will earn $822.60.
