An isotonic solution is a solution in which the amount of dissolved material is equal both inside and outside of the cell. Water still flows in both directions, but an equal amount enters and leaves the cell.  Hope this helps. :)

The quantity that is equal between two solutions that are isotonic would be the solute concentrations of the two solutions.

An isotonic solution is a solution that has the same water potential as the solution in its surrounding. In other words, isotonic solutions have the same solute concentration as that of their surrounding solutions.

Two neighboring isotonic solutions will have no net movement of water between them because their water potentials are the same.
