Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution creates the executive branch of the government. Clause 5 lists the three requirements for the classification for office of the United States Presidents. They are:
- the candidate must be born in the United States ( a natural born citizen ),
- the candidate must be at least 35 years old,
- the candidate must have lived in the United States for al least 14 years.
Clause 8 of Article 2 also requires the President to take an oath to do his best as President, and that he will do his best to protect and defend the Constitution.
