Can someone please help me answer a few questions or tell me if it's right at least. I'll post the passage at the here as well, I just need some help.

Honestly, I think it's a but the thing is I'm not entirely sure about that. The story is a bit confusing to me considering I've read it more than twice. Please help, I appreciate it.
