What is the misplaced modifier in this sentence?

John was unable to go buy the milk from the store that he was craving.

A. “John was unable”

B. There is no misplaced modifier

C. “To go buy the milk”

D. “That he was craving”

A modifier is said to modify (change the meaning of) another element in the structure, on which it is dependent. Typically the modifier can be removed without affecting the grammar of the sentence. So if you remove "That he was craving" from the sentence, it still makes sense and doesn't affect the whole sentence.

the answer is D because when you read it now which is john was unable to go buy the milk from the store that he was craving. that makes no sense but when you move that he was craving for after the go buy milk it makes the most sense. read this changed sentence and tell me if it makes the most sense, john was unable to buy the milk that he was craving for from the store.
