It is a good idea to have a carbon monoxide detector in the home because the family can be poisoned by it. Carbon monoxide poisoning comes from badly working furnaces, or other heating sources. Alot of the times you can not smell it, taste it, or see it, but a detector can detect it. So in this case, the detector will catch it before you can, and save more lives.
