What is the best Way to change the sentence from passive voice to active voice?

The hobgoblin was kept hidden in the basement by the old gentleman with unusual eyes.

A. The hobgoblin In the basement was kept hidden by the old gentleman with unusual eyes.

B. In the basement, the hobgoblin was kept hidden by the old gentleman with unusual eyes.

C. Hidden in the basement, the hobgoblin was kept by the old gentleman with unusual eyes.

D. The old gentleman with unusual eyes kept the hobgoblin hidden in the basement.

The answer should be D because the word "was" almost always makes the sentence past tense. (Im sorry if this is not correct but it should be, Im not the smartest cup of tea)
