While scientific sociology will analyze society from different theoretical perspectives, interpretative sociology emphasizes the significance of meaning behind people's actions when studying social problems and trends. Also, interpretative sociology suggests that people are the ones who construct reality in their daily lives.  

The positivist viewpoint employs the scientific method to investigate the underlying natural laws that shape society. The interpretivist viewpoint examines how people interpret their surroundings.
