x=number of multiple choice questions
x+y=27
y=10x-6
Replace y for 10x-6 in the first equation
x+(10x-6)=27
Simplify.
11x=33
x=3
Substitute 3 for x in any equation to get y=24
there are 3 multiple choice and 24 constructed response questions.
