Question 10 of 20:
Select the best answer for the question.
10. An asteroid can have a moon if
the
O A. moon impacted the asteroid and
bounced off into a rotational pattern.
O B. asteroid is close enough to the
sun.
O C. asteroid is large enough to
create a gravitational force that is
strong enough.
O D. moon's gravitational force is
weak enough

Respuesta :

Answer:

C. asteroid is large enough to create a gravitational force that is strong enough.

Explanation:

Basically all celestial bodies are subject to Gravity among them, so the rules of gravity apply for the strongest to the smallest, the strongest attract the weakers into their orbit, so an asteriod can have a moon since a moon it´s just a weaker celestial body with a weaker gravity force that is attracted towards another bigger celestial body. An asteriod just would have to find a celestial body with a weaker gravity force and strong enough to endure traveling alongside the asteriod.

The answer is C. If the asteroid is large enough to create a gravitational force that is strong enough, then an asteroid can have a moon.

EXPLANATION

All things in the solar system are subject to gravity. Gravity applies in space. The celestial body who has the strongest gravity can attract the weaker ones into their orbit. An asteroid can have a moon because it can attract other celestial bodies with weaker gravity force towards them. An asteroid can find another celestial body with weaker gravity force and attract it into their orbit, so the asteroid can have a moon.

Asteroids are rocky and small objects that orbit around the sun. Asteroids are much smaller than planets. We can find a lot of asteroids in our solar system, most of them live in the main asteroid belt, which is located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

Even though it is mostly found in the asteroid belt, asteroids can also be discovered in other places. Some are found in the orbital path of planets. This just means that the asteroid and the planet both follow the same track around the sun.

Asteroids are the leftover from the formation of our solar system back then in the past. The solar system began around 4,6 billion years ago. It started when a big cloud of dust and gas collapsed. The material then fell into the center of the cloud and made the sun.

The leftover condensing dust in the solar system became planets. Asteroids were the condensing dust in the cloud that never had the chance to became planets. They are leftovers from a long time ago.
