Mitosis is the process by which body cells divide to form two identical copies. Meiosis produces four sex cells (gametes) which contain 1/2 the genetic material of the original cell. Normal humans carry 46 chromosomes in each cell (2 copies of 23 chromosomes). hope this helps :)
Each parent cell gives 23 chromosome meaning a human has 46 chorosomes 1 or 2 choromsomes missing can lead to down syndrome or cicle cell anemia
