Industrialization gave workers shorter working hours and time off on weekends, which allowed them to spend more time for their family. This gave them more time for themselves as well - in short, more leisure time. But of course, industrialization also meant lesser available work for some of the workers because lesser human hands were needed.

Thanks to industrialization, labor markets changed a lot when the demand for workers skyrocketed, and the unemployment rate plummeted.

These forces placed the workers in a position of solid negotiation, which they used to obtain shorter working hours, in order to enjoy more free time.
