As our knowledge of agriculture increases, so does our ability to sustain greater population. Take for instance grains; they are able to be stored for extended periods of time and they are relatively nutritious. Patriarchy emerges- before humans settled down permanently into agricultural societies, there were no differences in the “importance” of a certain gender. Both sexed preformed important tasks essential to the tribe. But as humans settled down, the men were the ones to work the fields and the women were tasked with taking care of the children and the house. This led to the formation of the idea that men were superior to women and should be in control of the families affairs.
