The goal is to still collect $800,000 in income taxes so that the federal government is
able to function
Suppose you are now in charge of creating a progressive tax system for this country, in
which the tax rate for each income level is different. For simplicity, we can assume that
each household will be taxed at the same rate on all their income.
Complete the table on the next page with the tax rates that you choose following the
above conditions. There is no one right answer, but make sure you end up collecting
$800,000 in the end! (That is, the fifth column should add up to $800,000.)
