“The U.S Census projects that the United States will become a majority-minority country by the year 2045. How can we combat. prevent and/or reduce prejudice, discrimination and violence in a new, more diverse America? “

Respuesta :

The United States has historically been divided between two racial groups, the White Man from Europe and the African-American from the slaves.

However, while simplistic, we need to teach people that this has not always been the case.

The US has always been quite diverse with people coming in from England initially but second and third waves came from Ireland, Central and Eastern European countries. After the civil war, there already different communities of Germans, Chinese, Japanese, Irish, Lithuanian Jews etc.

More recently in the 20th Century, we saw a huge number of immigrants from Italy, settling in New York and Persians settling in Los Angeles.

Sporadic instances of violence between different groups always erupted but through education and economic opportunities, these groups were completely assimilated into the local culture.

Going forward, as Hispanic communities become a majority in many cities, education and media play huge part in ensuring that everyone is accepting of other races and cultures and can relate themselves to a single American identity.
