Ocular hypertension is the existence of increased fluid pressure inside the eyes. The eye pressure is measured in terms of millimetre mercury (mm Hg). When the pressure goes beyond 22 mm Hg, then it is said to be ocular hypertension.

The normal pressure in the eyes is from 10 mm Hg to 22 mm Hg. It increases with the increase in age. Most people above 40 years are more prevalent to ocular hypertension. In this stage the optic nerves appears normal. At a serious stage it can cause glaucoma.
