Suppose you are studying the nitrogen cycling between vegetation, sediments, and water in a pond ecosystem over the course of a month. While you are collecting data, a flock of 100 Canada geese lands and spends the night during a fall migration. What could you do to eliminate error in your study as a result of this event?

First, you'll have to discover how much nitrogen, in average, can be consumed and eliminated by a Cadian Goose. This, over a 12-hour period (or less, depending how much time the stay) and then, multiply the result by 100 (the number of geese in the flock). Finally, you enter the resulting value (either a positive or negative one) into the nitrogen budget of this particular ecosystem your studying.
