I need help pleaseeeeeeeeee :-) Mark has 64 paintings. The first day he sells 1/4th of them, then on each day after that, he sells one-half of the paintings he started the day with. How many paintings does Mark have left after four days of selling his paintings?

Respuesta :

2 paintings

Because 1/4 of 64 is 16.
Day 1: 16 left
Day 2: 1/2 of 16 is 8
Day 3: 1/2 of 8 is 4
Day 4: 1/2 of 4 is 2

So after day four he is left with 2.

Answer:

Paintings does Mark have left after four days of selling his paintings are 6.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Mark has 64 paintings.

To find : How many paintings does Mark have left after four days of selling his paintings?

Solution :

Total number of paintings = 64

The first day he sells [tex]\frac{1}{4}[/tex]th of them,

i.e. [tex]\frac{1}{4}\times 64=16[/tex]

Number of painting left 64-16=48.

The second day he sells one-half of the paintings he started the day with.

i.e. [tex]\frac{1}{2}\times 48=24[/tex]

Number of painting left 48-24=24.

The third day he sells one-half of the paintings he started the day with.

i.e. [tex]\frac{1}{2}\times 24=12[/tex]

Number of painting left 24-12=12.

The fourth day he sells one-half of the paintings he started the day with.

i.e. [tex]\frac{1}{2}\times 12=6[/tex]

Number of painting left 12-6=6.

Therefore, paintings does Mark have left after four days of selling his paintings are 6.
