Li need 3 more pieces of string
Solution:
Given, Li needs 15 pieces of string each [tex]\frac{1}{2}[/tex] of a inch long.
She cut a 6-inch piece of string into pieces that are each [tex]\frac{1}{2}[/tex] of an inch long.
Now, let us find how many pieces she got from 6 inch string.
[tex]\text { Number of pieces }=\frac{\text { length of string available }}{\text { length of each string }}[/tex]
[tex]=\frac{6}{\frac{1}{2}}=6 \times \frac{2}{1}=6 \times 2=12[/tex]
Then, she will get 12 pieces from 6 inch string.
Number of pieces she need more = total number of pieces she need – available pieces
= 15 – 12 = 3
Hence, she need 3 more pieces.
